Today Munchkin was helping me with another assignment for my Photographing Children and Babies class. For this shot, I was using a little chickens-in-the-lens trick we’ve learned to help get a child to engage and look directly into the lens. You ask the child if she sees any chickens in the lens, and when she looks, take your shot. If she says, “No,” then you follow up with, “Are you sure? I just put five of them in there this morning. Two red, one green, and a blue,” and so on. I’ve found it to be an effective trick to have in the arsenal, but Little Miss Smarty-Pants over here is a bit too quick to get wise. I love the hint of doubt you can see in her expression here.
